Care

If I should care what you think about me,

about anyone else,

about anything else,

I hope I can remember

to laugh

at myself.

Then I can collide with my inner knowing... without

blowing...

out your candle.

If I really care about what you think then I make extinct

my own wellbeing.

It’s like smudging my ink... signature...

before it has dried.

If I take it to heart

what you say about my art

I might react with a start

and the breeze created by me...

could blow out your candle.

A loss of light could stir your fright,

in spite of me.

An action too swift on my part,

a tightening of my grip,

could heighten a tension between us.

But if I should tend first to my good feeling with care then anyone else,

then anything else,

might remember

with laughter we share.

We can all collide with our inner knowing... without...

blowing...

out any candles.

Now there’s more light,

less fright,

many lanterns glowing bright.

The connections between us become heightened, accentuated, magnified

and they multiply with infinite good reason.
